So I have decided to switch schools and grades. I'm hoping this is a move for the best. I am sad to leave behind the great students, families, and colleagues of my previous school but I was ready for a change. My new school is a brand new arts magnet school opening up around the corner. I will no longer be teaching 4th grade but 3rd grade. I find it is easier to move down because I can adjust my teaching down a bit and still keep the high expectations. I'm getting excited to get to know my new team members more (we're meeting up this week!!) and focus more on arts integration. With my previous focus on project based learning I have some experience differentiating assignments to meet students' interests but this will be an exciting area to delve into. Wish me luck :)
